Royal Marine Throws Himself on Grenade to Save His Mates

His extraordinary courage, which could lead to a citation for the Victoria Cross, came after a tripwire booby-trap was stepped on during a nighttime mission outside the town of Sangin, Helmand province.

A live hand-grenade was released threatening to blow up L/Cpl Croucher, 24 and the rest of the patrol.

The marine shouted "grenade" and as his friends dived for cover L/Cpl Croucher lay with his back on the lethal device.

Lance Corporal Matt Croucher suffered a bloody nose, but was saved by his body armor. Of course, there's no way he could have known that.

Jeremiah Vs. the New York Times

When two repellent entities go at it, for whom do you cheer? In this case, maybe a cage match with hand grenades, or flame throwers at ten paces would settle the issue?

Time has reprinted a year-old letter from the Reverend Jeremiah Wright criticizing New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor's news story about Barack Obama's disinvitation of Wright from speaking at his candidancy announcement.

The Wright Rant is a tad strange for a couple of reasons.

First, as Captain Ed points out at Hot Air, Ms. Kantor somehow missed the invocations for God to damn America, the roosting of chickens a la Malcom X, and the accusation of a government-created AIDS virus designed to eliminate people of color.

Here's how Kantor deals with those messy issues:

"...the church is also more Afrocentric and politically active than standard black congregations."

Did she just not know about the radical black liberation theology Wright preached, or was she deliberately going easy on him?

The second strange, and rather chilling, aspect of Wright's letter is his preoccupation with Kantor's Jewish roots:

...a man [Obama] who understood that there were different branches of Judaism; a man who knew the difference between Hasidic Jews, Orthodox Jews, Conservative Jews and Reformed Jews...

When I told you, using one of your own Jewish stories from the Hebrew Bible as to how God asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?,” that Barack was like that when I met him...

I do not know why I thought The New York Times had actually repented and was going to exhibit a different kind of behavior.

Maybe it was my faith in the Jewish Holy Day of Roshashana...

CIA Director: AQ Training Western-Looking Operatives

CIA Director Michael Hayden appeared on NBC's Meet the Press this morning and told host Tim Russert that al Qaeda is using the remote border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan to train new recruits, including operatives who could pass for Westerners:

"They are bringing operatives into that region for training; operatives that wouldn't attract your attention if they were going through the customs line at Dulles with you when you were coming back from overseas."

Since al Qaeda, or any other terrorist group, for that matter, could easily slip personnel across the US border with Mexico, there's an implication that these operatives might be used to once again attack using the American air transport system.

Good thing Transportation Security Administration airport security screeners are trained to view all people entering the secure area of the airport as potentially dangerous - a doctrine for which the screeners are often mocked by less knowledgeable air travellers.

Al-Sadr Asks For Truce, Tells Mahdi Army to Stand Down

Looks like Mookie's had enough.

The Iraqi Government is either hurting Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army badly, or al-Sadr wants to conserve forces for a later confrontation. Al-Sadr has ordered his gunmen off the streets.

BAGHDAD (AP) - Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said Sunday that he was pulling his fighters off the streets nationwide and called on the government to stop raids against his followers and free them from prison.

The Iraqi government quickly welcomed al-Sadr's apparent move to resolve a widening conflict with his movement, sparked Tuesday by operations against his backers in the oil-rich southern city of Basra.

Al-Sadr's nine-point statement was issued by his headquarters in the holy city of Najaf and broadcast through loudspeakers on Shiite mosques. It said the first point was: "taking gunmen off the streets in Basra and elsewhere."

Wacky Iranian Mullahcracy "Summons" Dutch Ambassador

The Iranians were upset about "300." Now they're upset about Fitna, the short film, created by a Dutch lawmaker, linking Quran quotations to Islamist terrorism.

The Iranians have summoned Dutch and European diplomats:

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador on Sunday to protest against a film by a Dutch lawmaker that accuses the Koran of inciting violence, state radio said.

A senior diplomat from Slovenia, which holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, was also summoned, the radio said. The Netherlands is a member of the 27-nation bloc.

Nothing to worry about. As long as the diplos aren't theh ghey. Or valuable as hostages (Iran does have a history of kidnapping diplomats).

Content Warning: While the terrorist who posted this video on YouTube claims that "...I hid the beheading part..." he didn't do a very good job. Viewers can easily discern the murderers sawing at their victims' necks as blood flows freely. Then the severed heads are displayed for the camera.

The real question though, is how did this video get passed by YouTube's alleged review process without jihadi sympathizers working inside YouTube to grease the skids?



Update: YouTube finally got enough complaints to remove the video. Of course, they just took it down, they didn't explain how it passed their review process.

Hollywood's Latest Anti-War Propaganda Flick 'DOA'

Whodathunkit? Americans will not go to theaters in droves to watch their soldiers depicted as whiny little bitches. "Stop-Loss" is going directly down the toilet without even circling the bowl.

And Paramount's stockholders should start asking some hard questions. Here's a quote from an anonymous (and clueless) studio source:

"No one wants to see Iraq war movies. No matter what we put out there in terms of great cast or trailers, people were completely turned off. It's a function of the marketplace not being ready to address this conflict in a dramatic way because the war itself is something that's unresolved yet. It's a shame because it's a good movie that's just ahead of its time."

Which really begs the question, if studio execs knew this, why did they waste so much money on a guaranteed flop?

Of course, the fact is that Hollywood has not yet released an "Iraq war movie." Stop-Loss and its ilk simply use the war as a backdrop for partisan attacks on the Bush administration in particular, and American culture in general.

If one of the Hollywood brainiacs decides to make an Iraq war movie focusing on the bravery and dedication of the average man or woman in Iraq, well, the wild success of "300" sent Hollywood a powerful message. It remains to be seen if anyone there was listening.

Liveleak Caves to Muslim Intimidation

One day after hosting Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders' anti-Islam film Fitna, Anglo-American web video hosting service Liveleak has bowed to threats to their staff, completely validating Wilders' thesis that Islam is a religion of violence and pulled the controversial film.

Here is Liveleak's statement, posted on their front page:

Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.
This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.
Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.
We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

YouTube Becoming Undhimmified?

Doubtful. More likely they have just bowed to the inevitable regarding the anti-Islam film Fitna (Arabic for "chaos" or "strife"), created and released by far-right Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders.

The YouTube "community" is infested with pro-jihadi propagandists, who have found a sympathetic home at YouTube. Organized "flagging" parties quickly get pro-Western videos moved into the "Confirm Birthdate" category, usually within a couple hours of the videos appearance on YouTube. Any excuse that the YouTube team subsequently can find to delete the counter-terrorist messages is seized upon immediately.

By contrast, gruesome pro-terrorist videos, clearly violating YouTube's stated terms of service, remain untouched by YouTube staffers month after month. This, even when the films are repeatedly flagged by pro-Western YouTube users.

So YouTube tried their standard tactics with Fitna. After uploading the first part of Wilders' video to my YouTube account I received this email from Youtube:

After being flagged by members of the YouTube community and reviewed by YouTube staff, the video below has been removed due to its inappropriate nature.

One of my co-bloggers, Howie at The Jawa Report, experienced the same when his YouTube account was suspended, then reinstated after he uploaded Fitna.

NYT Writer: Why We Chose to Betray America

Subtitle: We Hate President Bush

That's not really the title of Eric Lichtblau's defiant apologia, of course, excerpted here at Slate, but it might as well be. This Slate article contains all the dishonesty (and some inadvertent candor) we've come to know and loathe from the Gray Lady each time she chooses to screw the US and endanger her citizens in an attempt to boost circulation.

This time it's the "warrantless wiretapping" story. Why does Lichtblau choose to refer to the NSA's electronic interceptions of potential terrorist communications with the archaic term "wiretapping?" Because it evokes an emotional response: trenchcoated G-men pulling their fedoras low while they sneak about from house to house fastening alligator clips to telephone lines.

Admitting that the NSA program does not actually listen in to millions of conversations, but focuses on communications between known and suspected terrorists and American citizens would be counter-productive to the Times goals: making money while electing liberal Democrats.

Lichtblau actually admits that dislike of Vice President Cheney affected the decision to expose the anti-terrorist program:

Dick Cheney had thought about coming to the meeting but figured his own tense relations with the newspaper might actually hinder the White House's efforts to stop publication. (He was probably right.)

This led Lichblau and his co-conspirators at the Times, who have after all, printed diagrams showing mujahideen exactly where to shoot Marines in order to defeat their body armor, to expose the program, rendering it worthless.

Ludicrously, Lichtblau justifies his culpability in this betrayal by pointing to the opportunistic political circus that has developed around the intercept program:

More than two years later, the Times' decision to publish the story—a decision that was once so controversial—has been largely overshadowed by all the other political and legal clamor surrounding President Bush's warrantless wiretapping program...

Amazing, isn't it? The New York Times version of "journalistic ethics" (please excuse the oxymoron) always leads them to do what will profit the NYT the most.

Saddam Bankrolled Dem Senators' Antiwar Trip

The phrase "useful idiots" springs to mind:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
The three anti-war Democrats made the trip in October 2002, while the Bush administration was trying to persuade Congress to authorize military action against Iraq. While traveling, they called for a diplomatic solution.

The likely recipients of Hussein's largesse:

The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California.

They say they wouldn't have gone if they'd known who was footing the bill. They don't say why they didn't bother to find out who was footing the bill.

Update: The Blog, Edited by Michael Goldfarb reports that the congressional Dems were curiously incurious about who was funding their trip, and Jim McDermott, asked how it felt to be used as a propaganda stooge for Saddam said, "If being used means that we're highlighting the suffering of Iraqi children, or any children, then, yes, we don't mind being used."

So there.

Six Million Muslims Convert to Christianity Each Year

Many of them because of Coptic Christian priest Zakaria Botros, who makes a habit of publicly humiliating prominent ulema, Islamic theologians.

Botros brings up embarrassing aspects of sharia law, like the fact that Muslim men are permitted to have sex-slaves, and challenges the ulema to justify them. Their failure to do so is disturbing to many of the ummah. Deeply disturbing.

Dutch politician Geert Wilders had planned to release his short film, critical of Islam, to an internet audience. Network Soutions, the Virginia-based company hosting Wilders' site has suspended his service unless he shares the movie with them first.

But Network Solutions denies pre-emptive censorship. Makes you wonder what color the sky is in their world. Network Solutions has provided internet hosting service to Islamic groups on the State Department's list of designated terrorist organizations.

Remembering Grandma Again

One day when I was a little boy, I was taken over to my Grandma's trailer so she could babysit me for a while. Her little scottie dog Queenie ran around yapping and played fetch (sort of, Queenie didn't like giving things back once she got her teeth into them), but fifteen year-old mutt Wimpy just kind of lay there. And he was flatulent, too.

'New' Osama bin Laden 'Video' Released

It's not really a video, just a static image with audio, and there is evidence that the audio itself is not fresh.

Remembering Grandma

I remember visiting my grandma as a small child. She lived in a cozy little trailer with two dogs. Queenie was an energetic, even hyper, scots terrier. Wimpy was a small, elderly mixed breed. He never moved very fast.

One day I tried to pet Wimpy and he bit me. It didn't hurt, but I was really startled. Two of Wimpy's teeth fell out. Grandma laughed.

Thinking back on it, it occurs to me that Jim Crow sheriffs used to set dogs on people. Just like Grandma. That bitch.

Or maybe, since Grandma was nice, this means that the Jim Crow sheriffs were nice, too. Just misunderstood.

Gettin' All Up in God's Face

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's pastor for twenty years, preaches "black liberation theology." That isn't merely a belief that Jesus was black, and that blacks are the true "chosen race." Most Americans wouldn't have a problem with that kind of faith tradition, whether or not they shared the beliefs. It's the hateful, racist aspects that stick in the craw.

Here, the pseudonymous AsiaTimes writer "Spengler" examines the beliefs of one of Wright's mentors:

Either God must do what we want him to do, or we must reject him, Cone maintains:

Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love. [1]

In the black liberation theology taught by Wright, Cone and Hopkins, Jesus Christ is not for all men, but only for the oppressed:

In the New Testament, Jesus is not for all, but for the oppressed, the poor and unwanted of society, and against oppressors ... Either God is for black people in their fight for liberation and against the white oppressors, or he is not [Cone].

I think prudence dictates a less confrontational approach than the black liberation theologists take toward the Almighty, but that's just me.

Obama's "Church" Writhes in the Sunlight

"We have listened and watched as the wonderful work of our church has been vilified this week," he told about 3,000 congregants on Palm Sunday morning. "This week should be special for us because I guess we know a little something about crucifixion."

This might even be successful, if so many videos of Wright's racist, hatemongering "sermons" weren't available on the internet.

Hatemongering, Racist Minister Resigns From Obama Campaign

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., condemned racially charged sermons by his former pastor Friday and urged Americans not to reject his presidential campaign because of “guilt by association.”

Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee after videotapes of his sermons again ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs.

When the "association" lasts twenty years, including marrying you and your wife and baptizing your kids, supplying the title for your book, and being your "spiritual advisor," the "guilt" is yours as much as his, Barack.

There's also little doubt that this creature would still be a part of the Obama campaign if those pesky videos of him spewing his bile hadn't hit the internet. A decent man would have told this hatemonger off and left his church, oh, about twenty years ago.

Nice try, though.

As opposed to "God Bless America." Very nice words to come out of a clergyman's mouth, especially one who claims to be Christian and not Wahhabi.

This is not good news for a candidate who makes a point of eschewing an American flag pin, has a Che Guevara-worshipping staffer, a wife who has rarely been proud to be an American, and likes to cup his balls during the National Anthem.

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

Multiple sources are reporting that ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer's paid companion is an aspiring musician from New Jersy named Ashley Alexandra Dupre:

Late Wednesday, the New York Times Web site identified "Kristen" as 22-year-old Ashley Alexandra Dupre. A native of New Jersey, she lives in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

Dupre's attorney said she had been subpoenaed to testify in a grand jury investigation. She had not been charged.

Blinded by the White

With current Governor Eliot Spitzer reportedly ready to resign today, to be effective Monday, New Yorkers will be able to move on to a new Gubernatorial scandal.

As current Lieutenant Governor David Paterson takes the reins of Governor, this story should gain a bit more prominence.

Joseph Maioriello, who had performed his duties as a photographer for the state for twenty-six years was fired by Paterson for "poor performance." Paterson replaced Maioriello with an African-American woman. Maioriello claims that he was told the staffing change was due entirely to race.

Maioriello then filed suit against Paterson for wrongful termination. In a sworn deposition responding to the lawsuit, Paterson claimed that, because of his visual impairment, he wasn’t aware of either photographer’s race. Really. Paterson actually stated this in a sworn deposition.

But not to worry. There's a reasonable explanation. Paterson was just kidding:

Paterson's current chief of staff, Charles O'Byrne, yesterday dismissed the statement as a "Paterson quip, a joke."

"If you know anything about David Paterson, it's that he never used his blindness as an excuse for anything," said O'Byrne, who said he was in the room during the deposition.

But in a decision first reported by the New York Law Journal yesterday, US Northern District Court Judge Norman Mordue found it no laughing matter.

He rejected attempts by Senate Democrats to throw out the case, saying there is sufficient evidence "from which a jury could find that plaintiff was terminated so that Sen. Paterson could hire an African-American photographer in his place."

Brilliant. New York's next Governor likes to joke around while under oath.

White Dog, Pink Dog, Can't We All Just Get Along?

"We do it to promote awareness of breast cancer," said Douglas, 30, who has owned the large hair salon for three years. "Cici is a conversation piece. Customers come in and ask why the dog is pink. So we tell them about breast-cancer awareness, about the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and then we ask for a donation."

Okay, pink poodles aren't exactly my cup of tea, but I certainly respect the effort put in to benefit a worthy cause.

Unfortunately, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley doesn't:

Joy Douglas, owner of Zing Hair Salon at 1100 Spruce St., has received a $1,000 ticket from an animal-control officer for coloring her white poodle, Cici, pink by using organic beet juice.

Is the dog actually being mistreated? No, even the Humane Society admits the dog is in fine shape, other than being pink.

Maybe other dogs make fun of Cici? No, dogs don't have color vision.

ACLU Supports Legalized Unregulated Prostitution

Since New York Governor Eliot Spitzer brought the topic into the national discussion, I thought it would be interesting to dust off this oldy but goody. I know that some more libertarian leaning people actually agree with the ACLU on this, but I don't. It will be interesting to watch the debate in the comments.

Keep in mind that all laws are based on some moral code. That code isn't necessarily that of any one specific religion, but a reflection of the collective morals of the community and general public. It is my belief that issues like this one should be decided at the state level by the representatives of the people.

Also keep in mind that even in States where prostitution is legal it is regulated. The ACLU believe it should be unregulated. I think this is the most retarded and absolutist position that the ACLU has on this one. I don't know about you, but I don't want someone being pimped on the same corner my kid catches the school bus.

Not only have the ACLU argued before a federal appeals court that having a ban on federal funds to organizations that promote commercial sex work inhibits free speech, but they even advocate the legalization of unregulated prostitution themselves.

The ACLU's Policy 211 is straightforward. "The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution". They base their argument on several points, including that existing laws are discrimination against women, and the right of individual privacy. They argue that what two consenting adults in private do is their own business. However, when you also oppose zoning laws, and regulation you can hardly argue that prostitution is a private business.

As for it being a privacy issue, it seems a contradiction to me when they also state that the "public" solicitation of prostitution is "entitled to the protection of the First Amendment". "It's not just the bedroom that the ACLU wishes to make off-limits to public censure, but also the local street corner, presumably even if that corner is regularly used by school children crossing the street." Source

And what good would it do for women's rights to decriminalize this? One could argue that women should not be punished for their own exploitation. But how does decriminalizing pimps, buyers, procurers, brothels or other sex establishments offer any solution to this? Decriminalization would do nothing but expand the sex industry and send a message to society that it is acceptable. And a system unregulated would do nothing for women's health, and would only promote the spread disease.

They don't belive in zoning laws, and do believe in fully legalalized, and unregulated prostitution. So there wouldn't be any law that could keep a prostitution house from being a certain distance from your neighborhood, your Church, or your child's preschool. This is especially disturbing when they think child pornography distribution and possession should be legal, and fight for convicted child molesters to live across the street from elementary schools and parks.

This is just one of many in a very long list of extremist positions of the ACLU.

NYS Governor Spitzer Linked to Prostitution Ring

CBS and Fox are reporting that Spitzer will resign tonight at 7 PM ET. That moves Lieutenant Governor David Paterson into the top slot, the first African-American NYS Governor. Unfortunately, Paterson has some baggage of his own:

February 19, 2008 -- ALBANY - In a different type of blind justice, Lt. Gov. David Paterson insists race did not play a role in his decision to replace a white staff photographer with a black one because he doesn't see black and white - literally.

Paterson, in his sworn deposition in a lawsuit against him, claimed his blindness prevented him from knowing the race of either photographer when he made the staffing changes in 2003, when he was Senate minority leader.

Paterson has been legally blind since developing an infection in infancy that left him blind in one eye and with very limited sight in the other.

"Given my visual impairment, I did not know for certain the race of either," Paterson, the state's first black lieutenant governor, testified in the case.

Paterson's current chief of staff, Charles O'Byrne, yesterday dismissed the statement as a "Paterson quip, a joke."

The judge didn't see Paterson's sworn testimony as a joke.

Paterson is widely considered more liberal than Spitzer. Great. More liberal than the idiot who wanted to hand out NYS licenses to illegal aliens.

...Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers.

And for you hypocrisy buffs, there's this:

Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

Thank God Spitzer's a Democrat. Otherwise this revelation might adversely affect his career.

President Vetoes Latest Dem Scheme to Handcuff Anti-Terror Efforts

President Bush has vetoed a bill that would have prevented the CIA from making captured terrorists uncomfortable. We're talking mainly here about that favorite hippy street theatre pastime, waterboarding, the technique that became controversial once the DNC and the mainstream media saw a chance to make a little political hay with it.

Here's a video posted at Hot Air by Allahpundit in 2006. Fox reporter Steve Harrigan goes through three progressively more frightening stages of waterboarding.

"...the thing that really impressed my was just how quickly you can recover. I mean, they took me to the brink where I was ready to submit, tell them anything within minutes, and then just minutes later I was standing by the side of that pool feeling fine..."

Contrast Harrigan's account with the abject stupidity being pushed by the Left (Joe Gandelman really needs to change the name of his blog if he's going to keep this moonbat Mullen around):

In an act of abject cowardice, President Bush has vetoed a bipartisan bill prohibiting waterboarding and other Al Qaeda-esque interrogation techniques not in a public appearance surrouded by aides and supporters, but behind closed doors. The action was announced in his weekly radio address this morning, a favorite of sycophantic shut-ins.

Al Qaeda doesn't waterboard. Al Qaeda cuts off fingers and heads, puts victims on meathooks, blowtorches faces, crushes testicles, shoves barbed wire up rectums...

For American Journos, 'Mum' Would Have Been the Word

Glenn Greenwald, a man with whom I rarely agree, makes an excellent point about the fall of senior Obama advisor Samantha Power (she told a reporter that Hillary Clinton is "a monster"):

But the reporter who was interviewing her, Britain's Gerri Peev of The Scotsman, printed the comment anyway -- as she should have, because Peev had never agreed that any parts of the interview would be "off the record," and nobody has the right to demand unilaterally, and after the fact, that journalists keep their embarrassing remarks a secret.

It's extremely likely, though, that had Power been speaking to a typical reporter from the American establishment media, her request to keep her comments a secret would have been honored. In one of the ultimate paradoxes, for American journalists -- whose role in theory is to expose the secrets of the powerful -- secrecy is actually their central religious tenet, especially when it comes to dealing with the most powerful. Protecting, rather than exposing, the secrets of the powerful is the fuel of American journalism. That's how they maintain their access to and good relations with those in power.

In theory an American journalist would have done the same thing as the Scotsman reporter - printed Power's ill-considered remark.

In practice? Most American journalists would not have printed it unless Power worked for McCain. Greenwald is quite correct on "effect," if a bit shaky on "cause."

At the end of his piece, Greenwald tries to make the ridiculous case that the US Press favors the Right, but he's only pandering to the juvenile BDS sufferers who make up his Salon readership; Greenwald's main point, though, is spot on. The odds are long that an American reporter would have honored Power's request to keep the remark off the record.

Hint: you have to get that "off the record" stuff established right up front, Dr. Power, the press can be funny that way (and by the way, does the Harvard professor actually eat with that mouth?).

"We f***** up in Ohio," refers to yet another idiotic stunt by an Obama adviser. Austan Goolsbee gave the old wink-wink, nudge-nudge to Canadian diplomats, concerned about Obama's NAFTA rhetoric. Goolsbee told them not to worry, it's just rhetoric, he doesn't really mean it.

Times Square was disrupted in the wee hours this morning when someone detonated an improvised explosive device in front of a landmark Times Square recruiting station. Recruiters from all branches of the armed forces use the station.

A small explosive device damaged a military recruiting station in New York City's Times Square early Thursday.

Police say someone threw the device at the recruiting station several hours before dawn. The blast shattered a large portion of the building's front window, but no injuries were reported.

The "deadly weapon" was a baseball bat.

Cry Havoc, and Let Slip the Blogs of War: U.S. Companies Hosting Terror Supporters (HELP NEEDED!)

The Jawa Report and The Dread Pundit Bluto declare war on the jihad forum that recently brought you "Does this bomb vest make me look fat?" and "Beheading Suspected Supporters of the Afghan Government is fun". The forum is run by Taliban supporters in Pakistan, but its membership is a mixed group of Salafi e-jihadis and infidel fellow travelers who support anyone willing to kill an American.

We call upon all able bodied patriots to complain to the American service providers that allow this forum to operate. Service providers should be e-mailed, called, or faxed until they agree to stop facilitating the enemies of the United States of America.

The forum features at least two videos which clearly violate the webhost's Terms of Service (TOS) and arguably U.S. and International Law. A gruesome "exclusive" Lee-Media Taliban beheading video, images from which are too graphic to post here but which can be referenced at: Lee-Media: Taliban Behead Three "Spies". A second graphic video which begins with a Taliban terrorist being outfitted with a suicide vest; not shown on the short clip posted is the Taliban homicide bomber blowing up a vehicle.

In addition, the site routinely encourages the murder of civilians and the killing of U.S., NATO, Coalition, & Russian troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, & Chechnya. It also distributes al Qaeda propaganda.

This network is notable for the considerable effort they have made from the very beginning to hide their existence. They obviously have not succeeded, but we give them an "A" for effort....

Membership: By invitation only, so there are no "innocent" members and no deniability for the administrators. Core members are known to scour other, better known sites for talent which they then recruit to the LEE Network.

Another specialty of the group is uploading Taliban murder videos which are sold in Pakistan's tribal areas but not officially released on the internet. They have become the de facto distribution network for Taliban propaganda not officially produced by the group's central Shura Council.

Frames from the video can be found here and might be sent to webhosts as evidence of what happens behind Lee-Media's closed forum doors. This suicide vest video can also be used. Service providers can also be directed to the Internet Haganah's detailed analysis of Lee-Media here.

Obama NAFTA Flap Gets Worse

Last Thursday, a report came out of Canada's CTV that an unidentified Obama staffer had assured Canada's ambassador to the US that Obama's NAFTA talk was so much hot air. Obama's camp declared the report "implausible," and the Canadian diplomats seemed to deny the report.

Now a memo has surfaced [emphasis added]:

"Noting anxiety among many U.S. domestic audiences about the U.S. economic outlook, Goolsbee candidly acknowledged the protectionist sentiment that has emerged, particularly in the Midwest, during the primary campaign. He cautioned that this messaging should not be taken out of context and should be viewed as more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans."

"Goolsbee" is Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee, who says that memo-writer Joseph DeMora misinterpreted him, or quoted him out of context, or something.
